Jacuzzi/Spa-like jetted bath tubs in hotels – Aruba

Jacuzzi/Spa-like jetted bath tubs in hotels Thanks:  0 09-24-2014, 09:07 AM #1 Aruba since 1979Moderator Jacuzzi/Spa-like jetted bath tubs in hotels I got an email from a friend this morning who spent a weekend at a pool/spa operator’s conference. She knew that I was active on this forum and asked that I passed the word. The word is……..DO NOT USE in room spa (with blower jets) bath tubs. (anywhere in the world) Here is scenario: Skeevey Larry gets into spa bathtub at a hotel and soaks for a long time with the jets blowing. He shuts off the blower, drains the water from the tub, showers off and leaves. A day or 2 later, not so skeevey John, checks in to the same room at same hotel and decides to take a nice hot bath… he fills the tub, gets in and sits. He pushes the button to turn on the blower jets and the water lurking in those air/jet lines are from skeevey Larry’s bath. The bacteria and bad stuff are spread thru those jet lines where a little bit of the prior bath water still sits. The way that the hotel staff are supposed to clean these jetted tubs is to fill with water, add a gallon of bleach and run the jets for 5 min, drain and then fill with water and run for 5 minutes water only. Realistically, this cleaning process does not happen from guest to guest. Do not take the chance of getting sick. Also………one does not have to be skeevey to leave germs/bad stuff behind. I was just trying to make a point. THINK.. is it Thoughtful? Helpful? Inspirational? Necessary? Kind? sidtm 09-24-2014, 11:09 AM #2 Super Moderator Ewww. Thanks for that. I think. The thing about hot tubs/spas vs jetted bath tubs is that hot tubs/spas have filtration and disinfection (bromine or chlorine). We have a spa at our country club clubhouse and Paul and i sometimes use it as it is sparkling clean and i always test it before i go in (for $15 one can buy a chlorine/bromine test kit and check) THINK.. is it Thoughtful? Helpful? Inspirational? Necessary? Kind? sidtm 09-24-2014, 01:35 PM #8 Senior Member Yeah, I never use them for the same reason…just makes sense that the cleaning folks don’t have the time to do that in every room……although realistically if they started the process as soon as they entered the room it could be done…… I don’t even take a bath in hotel rooms…….gives me the heeby jeebies…… ARUBA….HOME AWAY FROM HOME 09-24-2014, 03:16 PM #9 Senior Member What if I laminate myself and THEN go into the Jacuzzi?
